Utopia — Launch website design & development for a hand-built hypercar
(01)About
Utopia is the third chapter of Pagani — a hand-built V12 hypercar with a manual gearbox, made in just 99 coupés. Its launch website had to feel like the car itself: crafted, quiet and confident, closer to an atelier than a showroom.
We designed and built the site end to end: concept, art direction, a scroll-driven story, motion and a front end tuned for heavy cinematic media.
(02)Challenge
Hypercar launches usually shout. Utopia's whole idea is the opposite — timeless simplicity, analogue details, nothing added. The site had to carry hours of film and studio photography, tell a long story without losing people on the way, and stay smooth on a phone as well as on a 2K monitor.
(03)Solution
We staged the page like a film in chapters. A full-screen hero runs through three scenes with its own chapter timeline, then a long pinned story takes over: quiet lines of text on white, the PAGANI wordmark cut out of the car, and full-bleed detail shots — form, cockpit, light, sound, hand.
After the story, a calm editorial system takes the lead: the atelier and its heritage, an endless gallery of models, the numbers that matter, the film and the journal.
(04)Development
A hand-built, framework-free front end. Lenis smooth scrolling feeds one animation loop that drives every scroll scene, so text and imagery move together without lag. Videos are served in 1080p or 1440p depending on the screen, with posters and lazy loading, so the heavy media never blocks the page.
Also inside: a journal with article pages, cookie consent, counters, and a fluid canvas effect behind the Utopia signature in the footer. Every chapter has its own mobile composition, so the story reads just as well on a phone.
